About us
AGEL a.s. is the biggest health care provider in Central Europe. At present, it runs ten hospitals and several other health care facilities in the Czech Republic. It mostly operates in the Moravian-Silesian and Olomouc Regions. Every year, more than 110 thousand patients are hospitalized in the AGEL holding hospitals.

Our health care facilities with their results rightly rank among the top facilities not only in the Czech and Slovak Republic but also in the whole European Union and the world. Our doctors and nurses meet the highest requirements on qualification in comparison with the rest of the world. They are motivated to continuous education at home as well as abroad, and they have wide opportunities for self-realization within the system. Of the two hundred domestic hospitals and sanatoriums, only 40 of them hold the prestigious accreditation that ensures the patients the quality and maximum safe health care. More than one quarter of all Czech accredited hospitals and sanatoriums are held by AGEL. Of the 40 accredited hospitals, AGEL owns 11.
At present, AGEL group employs more than 8,000 persons in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Vzdělávací institut AGEL, o.p.s. was founded on 21 May 2001. The main objective is education. It focuses on activities in the area of public education and prevention, and it holds the opinion that one's lifestyle is strongly reflected in the human's health condition. It generally supports education of health care and non-health care employees, and it offers various events for the general public. It organizes and co-organizes various workshops, courses and symposiums. Another task is the improvement of the patients' environments, which has a great impact on their mental well-being, and it positively influences the process of treatment.

The institute has experience with the realization of a wide spectrum of public educational events, for instance: cardiovascular diseases conferences, the Srdce na dlani workshops, gastroenterological days, courses of healthcare rights, an annual science symposium etc. All events are open to the general public. It also cooperates with many specialists, health care professionals, with the Czech Medical Chamber and with professional clubs.
